WHY FEBRUARY IS THE MOST FEMINIST MONTH

It’s time to upgrade your normative notions of Valentine’s Day date nights. Lucy North tells us why why February is the most feminist month … Art: Naro Pinosa

It may still feel cold outside—but Spring is coming! And this precious period of in-between is actually a key time of year to tap into the Divine Feminine through the ancient practice of co-creating with Gaia, the seasons, and nature.

While many of us have sold ourselves to the Monday-Friday lifestyle, the origins of these days actually connect us to Divine Feminine energy. After all, Monday is actually “Moonday” and Friday is dedicated to the Goddess Freyja. The Divine Feminine is both the beginning and the end, and a reminder of our power to break free and make time be whatever we want.

In response to the seven-day week of patriarchal DOING, here are seven reasons to reclaim February as the most powerfully feminist month …

>>>

1// V.Day Actually Celebrates Your Erotic Sovereignty
Before it was renamed by the Roman Catholic Church, Valentine’s Day was originally known as “Freyja’s Day.” Freyja was the Pagan Goddess not of romantic, but of erotic love, and on February 14th women would hand out cards to as many men as they desired.

Transcending the gender stereotypes of today, women were seen not only the gateway to new life, they were considered at one with the desire, love, and sexual energy that runs through nature. Reclaiming this celebration of women as desire itself (rather than objects), realigns us with our ability to create anything we want.

>>>

2// 28 Days Means Lunar Power
Before being scrapped by the Church, the year adhered to the Goddess calendar—meaning there were 13 months and not 12, which reflected the 28 day cycle of both the Moon and womb.

Being only 28 days long, February is the only month of the year that still respects the Goddess calendar, and honors how the seasons and year really flow. This month, treat your womb like a second heart (whether or not you have a literal or metaphorical space there). Listen … what does it want to birth?

lucy north ruby warrington feminist february the numinous material girl mystical world naro pinosa

>>>

3// Imbolc Challenges the Madonna-Whore Complex
The pagan calendar marks February 1st as Imbolc—an important step towards March’s Spring Equinox. This is the time to release some of our 9-to-5 programming in favor of a kind of “land feminism” that lets us co-create with the upcoming Equinox’s tantric energy.

The Celtic Triple Goddess Brigid, synonymous with this day, is the Queen of the Underworld, the Mother of all beings, and the Mistress of the Elements. Whether it’s the sacred prostitute, the Divine Mother or the snake in the garden of Eden, the Divine Feminine holds and honors it all. Think of February as a time to break free from the pain of having to be “one type of woman”—and to exchange archetypal constraints for a wildish knowing.

>>>

4// Pisces Season Wants You to Wombifest
As the Sun enters the final zodiac sign of Pisces on February 19th, right before the birth of the new astrological year, it’s time to create a nourishing, protective womb that will enable you to tap into the oceanic source of all life.

This means retreating from the “busy-ness” of everyday life, and setting some boundaries to re-connect with your soul. Just like a mother that needs to retreat for the last month of pregnancy, create a safe space for you as Divine Mother to meditate, breathe, make love, self pleasure, journal, paint, sing, do yoga, and eat well. Rest in the womb and let your Divine Child emerge!

>>>

5// Saturn in Capricorn Spells Sacred Union Time
2018’s sees the Goddess month of February with Saturn in the sign of Capricorn, spelling out the start of something huge for the Divine Feminine. Capricorn is technically a “yin,” or feminine sign, but it’s also cardinal, with a mountain-building, masculine energy that asks us to blend action and intuitive knowing.

The Divine Masculine can only come THROUGH the Divine Feminine. It will only come through an open heart and the womb of collective feeling—and, yes, as with any birth, through pain. Women and those who embrace the Divine Feminine have been socially okay’ed to feel more of this, so we must lead the way. This integration asks us to do what we love by taking action, and watch the fear fly away.

6// The Aquarius New Moon Catapults Us Into Fairy Territory
When people are told they’re “away with the fairies,” it’s almost a derogatory comment. We say it’s time to celebrate our visits with the fairy realm!

With a New Moon in Aquarius on February 15th, it’s time for the Divine Feminine to swoop high, dream big—and to astro travel our dreams into the 3rd dimension. This New Moon also ends the longest complete lunar month of 2018 (the last New Moon was on January 16th, giving us 29 days, 18 hours, and 48 minutes). Mama Moon is giving you extra time to push on through, with a clear focus on new beginnings.

>>>

7// Mama’s Wide Open During Eclipse Season
With January 31st’s Super-Blue-Blood Lunar Eclipse bonanza, and the upcoming Solar Eclipse on February 15th, the first two weeks of Feb see us in the middle of two incredibly catalytic aspects. It’s like the universe has its legs wide open in breach position providing a gateway though which we can birth projects, artistic endeavors, networks, and relationships that reflect our divine purpose.

Goddesses: F is for February, F is for Fertility, F is for the future. Reclaiming feminist February means pretty much get it on with the universe!

MY MYSTICAL LIFE: MANIFESTING ABUNDANCE IN 2018

Some spell-crafting and cosmic intervention sure—but manifesting abundance in 2018 for me mainly means getting real, says Ruby Warrington

Numinous Founder Ruby Warrington manifesting abundance in 2018

Like a lot of us, I have high hopes for 2018—meaning it can’t be any worse than 2017. Mind you, I also had high expectations last year: it was the year my book came out, after all. And while that has opened all kinds of doors and bought a ton of blessings, it was also the hardest, most vulnerable, and most humbling experience of my life.

Add a backdrop of total political fuckery, a raging tech / iPhone addiction, family health issues, and a steady stream of natural disasters in the news, and I ended last year with a nervous system that felt shot to pieces. Um, anyone?

2017 was the first year I naturally lost weight due to stress (having taken matters into my own hands and starved myself during my traumatic teens). It was the first year I got fillers, as it felt like I began aging on fast forward. It was the year I made my first actual enemies (one of them a celebrity, who got so mad about something I didn’t even do, she sent me emails threatening to ruin my career).

There was plenty more, too, but this post isn’t about how shit last year was—because two weeks in to 2018, and I’m already feeling a MASSIVE shift. Maybe it’s because Saturn has gotten the fuck off my ascendant (moving from Sagittarius into Capricorn in December last year), or that all the all the planets are currently in direct motion (!!!), but things have just been … going my way.

>>>

Projects are popping, my Numinous and Moon Club communities feel supportive and vibrant (I love you guys!), and I’m about to begin work on book #2. My nervous system feels healed, my actions calm, directed, and SOLID. So why the rapid turnaround?

Cosmic omens aside, here are three ways I’ve been actively manifesting a killer 2018:

// I DID A WISHCRAFT SESSION
At the end of last year, amazing hypnotherapist Shauna Cummins suggested I try her Wishcraft experience—which is kind of like a witchy, uber-directed intention-setting ceremony.

During the session, Shauna had myself and Numi assistant editor Bess (SUCH a great exercise to do with a colleague or friend) write out 10 things we love about ourselves / life in general, to get us in the mindset of abundance. Then 10 things we wanted for ourselves in 2018. Then five things we love about The Numinous, and five things we wanted for this platform.

We then did a guided hypnosis where we journeyed to the END of 2018, and envisioned ourselves celebrating the year just gone. The purpose of this was to trick our subconscious minds into believing these things had already come to pass—increasing the chance of them actually happening.

Using these ideal future outcomes, we identified three words or concepts to summarize our core desires for the year ahead. We infused these into candles to be lit again each day over the holidays, to plant our intentions deeper. Two weeks into the year, I’m already seeing results. Shaunacummins.com

Shauna Cummins Wishcraft the Numinous manifesting abundance

// I’M MAKING SPACE FOR WHAT’S “MINE”
Meaning I am literally removing anything from my diary, my work, and my personal life, that is not 100% aligned with my intentions for my Self and my mission. This was something that came up a lot with me and various members of the Numi crew last year—how the more things we said “no” to, the faster the things that were a big “yes” for us showed up.

Which is easier said than done. Already I can hear you going “what about my resonsibilities to my family / friends / job?” Or, “How is doing less going to pay my credit card debt?”

But it was spending a week with no WiFi or cell reception over the holidays, that I was able to really see how being available and in “respond” mode all the time—thanks to email, text, DM, FB messenger, ETC.—leaves very little space for manifesting abundance when it comes to what YOU want and need.

In my book, I talk about how to cultivate healthy “higher selfishness”—something that is counter to everything we’ve been taught about how things work. We’ve learned: push / work hard to get what you want. Give to others before you serve yourself. Be accommodating if you want to be accepted. Ugh, the GUILT of putting ourselves first!

But the fact is, our bodies, brains and consciousness weren’t designed for the sheer volume of “other people’s needs” (family, friends, boss, AND refugees, disaster victims, etc.) that we interact with daily in the Now Age. It’s on us to be discerning about who and what truly deserve our time and energy, and to get okay with closing the door on the rest.

>>>

//I’M GETTING REAL
A large part of why 2017 felt so harsh for so many of us, is that the veil was well and truly lifted. On a personal, a political and a global level, situations stacked up to remind us that NO, everything will not turn out okay if we just keep preaching “love and light!” That it’s on us to pro-actively co-create our desired reality with literally every choice we make and every word we speak.

In 2018, with Saturn coming home to its own sign of Capricorn, it’s like we’re experiencing a collective “Saturn Return”—a.k.a. the mother of all reality checks. Which means no more blind eyes and heads in the sand. Unsettling? Maybe. But this is also our moment to “grow up”, take responsibility, and face the facts head on.

In my daily life, this already looks like picking up the phone more often to check the facts, versus trying to read between the lines. It means being a lot less “nice”, and knowing it’s okay if not everybody likes me. It means telling people what’s really going on for me (the people who actually need to know, anyway). And it means asking for what I’m worth, and not settling for less because I’m scared it’s all I’ll get.

None of it comfortable or easy. But if 2017 taught me anything, it’s that comfort and ease are earned by our willingness to get real, confront our demons, and actually ASK for the support we need.

“My Mystical Life” is returning as a weekly column, after I had to take a time-out to deal with the overall overwhelm of 2017. It’s good to be back. Here’s to manifesting abundance in 2018 and beyond!

THE LIBRA WANING QUARTER MOON WANTS YOU TO TAKE THE WHEEL

As we build towards the first New Moon of the year, the Libra Waning Quarter Moon wants you to awaken your ambition, embrace the intensity, and go after what you really want, says Jennifer Racioppi

Waning Quarter Moon :: January 8 2018 :: 5:25pm EST :: 18 degrees Libra

While Libra usually conjures images of balance and equanimity, the build toward the January 16 first New Moon of the year in Capricorn beckons us towards an attitude of focused extreme

With Venus, the Sun, Saturn, and Pluto (one of the most intense planets in the solar system) all conjoined in Capricorn, Mercury and the New Moon about to join the party, and Jupiter and action-packed Mars together in Scorpio, the scales are tipping towards depth.

Even though these are extremely aligned and auspicious combinations, they ask you to embrace drive, ambition, and that which you most desire!

So what to do with this Waning Quarter Moon? Embrace it. Let yourself get super aligned with the truth you are calling forth in your life right now.

>>>

:: The Sun ::
With the Sun, Venus, and powerhouse Pluto in Capricorn forming a perfect angle of support to Jupiter and Mars in Scorpio, the Waning Moon asks you to connect with your determination. Make peace with your ambition and decide what it is you want!

:: The Moon ::
With the Moon in cardinal Libra squaring the Sun in Capricorn, it’s time to surrender and release that which we no longer need. What is standing in the way of your goal and desires? Now’s the time to consciously surrender what no longer works.

:: The Square ::
As the Capricorn Sun squares the Libra Moon, the scales tip in the direction of ambition-drive Capricorn. But don’t forget to use your Libran values to determine what you actually want, and the best way to go after it.

:: The Message ::
As we move towards next week’s first New Moon of the new year, use this Quarter Moon to prepare. Set strong intentions, dig your heals in, and embrace the intensity.

With the Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse ending this month, you really don’t want to miss the opportunity to create the change you most desire in your life!

Danielle Paige
“Feel it in your bones …”

This energy means business—and as Saturn moves into Capricorn for the first time in 30 YEARS, you could literally be feeling it in your bones!

With the planet of responsibility, discipline, and structure shifting into its home sign, we’re doubling down on themes of sorting through, taking serious stock, restructuring, and rebuilding when it comes to the areas of our lives that could use a little grounding.

Both Saturn and Capricorn are connected to chronos, a.k.a time here on earth, so this is no time for quick fixes. As you slowly create new structures from the ground up, you’ll learn and mature. This energy is connected to karma and your deep lineage, so there can be some ancestral restructuring going on as well, even if it’s not obvious at first.

Look to see where Capricorn is in your chart to see which area of your life will be “under construction” and truly commit to building a solid foundation there. And look to where your natal Saturn is placed in your birth chart for the keys to your karmic responsibility in this lifetime (pro tip: this is one of my favorite planets to help clients understand their purpose!) **New to your birth chart? Create one HERE.

Saturn also rules your bones, teeth, and skin. It represents the shell of who we are. Saturn in Capricorn is a time to look at your body in a different way and learn to appreciate it for the ancient wisdom it carries, rather than comparing it to everyone else. This is how it goes with every Saturn transit—we learn to value the aging process and to understand that we only get better with time!

“Prepare for the Fempire …”

Since late December 2014, Saturn in Sagittarius has been asking us to clarify our vision, our values, and our mission. Now it’s time to build upon what we’ve learned, as the hard work, ambition, and drive of Capricorn seem sexier than ever—especially for any women busy build a Fempire.

Saturn can be tough medicine, but always brings massive gifts if we humble ourselves enough to take it. It’s less about brute force, and more about that aligned, prudent action that comes from the genuine, grounded guidance that we hopefully learned during Saturn’s transit through Sag (a.k.a. soul goals).

Ask yourself the hard questions first. Am I aligned with my truth? Am I doing this for the right reasons? Am I abusing privilege and power to accomplish my goals? Am I truly taking a stand for others or am I simply self-serving? Newsflash: self-serving ambition won’t fly over the next three years.

With Saturn joining Pluto (lord of the underworld) in Capricorn, we can expect the distorted underpinnings of power to be further exposed. No doubt we’ll experience a reinvention of the way we view hierarchy. May the patriarchy fall! May we find our truth from within! May we learn to honor and respect all of our cohabitants on this planet.

Here’s to soul-driven ambition, discipline, grit, tenacity, and resilience, and the goodness and grace to release our egos as we walk through this next chapter of history together on planet Earth.

“What legacy do you want to leave?”

Saturn’s move into Capricorn signifies a reality check for the collective around what legacy we will leave for the next generation. And as we build towards Saturn’s meet-up with Pluto in 2020, we may be faced with the realities of what we have destroyed … mainly our planet.

While Saturn does have a reputation of being a bit of a killjoy, this is more about the willingness to collapse the structures that no longer work (both the Berlin Wall’s construction and destruction occurred when Saturn was in Capricorn).

Though it may involve some uncomfortable dismantling of outmoded power structures, Saturn’s movement into Capricorn reminds us to elevate the elders who have earned their seats. To take responsibility. To build new structures. And to make commitments for the future that will serve Earth and all her inhabitants.

“Luxurious labor & hard-won haute couture …”

Pour the after-dinner liqueurs and settle into the supple, leathery sensation of hard-earned fireside chats, après-skiers. This year, the cosmos has truly saved the best for last …

In its home-base sign of Capricorn, Saturn unveils the laborious luxe of rough-hewn diamonds, fine wine grapes, and truffle butter, that are all the more decadent and delicious because of their sensuous struggle. Ruled by the Tarot’s Devil card, she connects us not only to the limits and boundaries of having a body, but also to the luscious sensations that we can feel deep down in our bones.

So lay out your silk dressing gown and lace up your steel-toed boots. The things worth having are worth fighting tooth and gel-tipped nail for.

Saturn in Capricorn Mantra: If it’s worth it, you better work it.

Theme Song: “And now we’re standing face to face/Isn’t the world a crazy place?/Just when I thought our chance had passed/You go and save the best for last—Vanessa Williams, Save the Best for Last.

Style: Basic Instinct’s Sharon Stone meets Old Hollywood Marlene Dietrich on an alpine train. Impeccable tailoring, sharp stilettos, high-waisted mini skirts, silk scarves, slicked-back hair, snow white turtlenecks, and statement jewelry.

Flavors: Haute gastronomy and icy sweetness. Think high-end tasting menus, hard-earned honey, Kobe beef, crème brûlée, snow cones, saffron, and truffles.

THE VIRGO WANING QUARTER MOON WANTS YOU TO CHECK YOURSELF

As we get ready to leap into 2018, the Virgo Waning Quarter Moon asks us to check what’s no longer working, and prepare for an upgrade, says Jennifer Racioppi

Waning Quarter Moon :: December 10 2017 :: 2:51am EST :: 18 degrees Virgo

With Mercury Retrograde in full swing and Saturn, the planet of discipline, structure, and life purpose, getting ready to switch signs, we find ourselves between worlds.

Time is ticking as we count down the final days of 2017, and coming off the intensity of the Gemini Supermoon and straight into Mercury Retro, it can feel like a collective hangover. Yet while we may feel like we’re trapped inside of what Stranger Things’ fans refer to as “the upside down,” I assure you this is just how real life feels right now.

As we rest between what was and what will be, this Waning Quarter Moon provides a crucial checkpoint on the journey to becoming our future selves …

>>>

:: THE SUN::
At 18 degrees of Sagittarius, the Sun makes an exact trine to the North Node of Fate in Leo, as Saturn also wraps up his nearly 3-year journey in Sag. Now’s the time to tune into the higher vision of your life. The message is to distill the lessons you’ve digested and learned over the past 3 years, and apply them to your overarching vision for your life and your journey going forward.

:: THE MOON ::
Girl … you got this! With the Moon traveling in Virgo and making an exact trine to Pluto, the planet of power, tap into your determination to go the distance with your goals. Get organized and in tune with yourself and your needs. Doing so will prepare you for the power and magic of the year-end New Moon in Sagittarius on December 18.

:: THE SQUARE ::
With the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Sagittarius, our inner needs battle with demands from the external world. And in the final days of 2017 and Saturn in Sag, it’s time to reconcile the past.

Very soon we’ll shoot like a Tesla into the future, with no ability to turn back. Graciously, the Cosmos has provided us with a beautiful Mercury Retrograde before launching us forward. Lean into it and let yourself reconcile your recent history. Where are you at in your life? Where have you been? What’s worked? What hasn’t?

:: THE MESSAGE ::
With five planets poised to enter the sign of the Archer for the December 18 New Moon in Sagittarius, we’re prepping for a crucial opportunity to claim our vision for 2018 and beyond.

On this Virgo Waning Quarter Moon, our job is to get crystal clear about what’s no longer working and surrender it to the divine. What are you ready to leave in the past as you look boldly to your future?
